can not receive .exe and other files but .jpg

Postby DiaVoLo » Thu Dec 18, 2003 7:16 pm

I can not receive any other file type but .jpg files from people. Does it have to do with Invision? If there is something that I need to do please help me.

Yes if you go to ALT + O then go down to DCC > Ignore u need to adjust it to accept what u want to acept its not good to set it to accept .exe files its easier to type /dcc ignore off and then accept the file u can get a tutorial on how to add things here http://www.ircmadeasy.com/Misc.ReceiveFiles.htm

As L|B said, you must disable your DCC Ignore settings or change them in order to receive files that are blocked.

Alt-O > DCC > Folders (for mirc 6.03 and under)
Alt-O > DCC > Ignore (for mirc 6.11 and 6.12)

You set this either to DISABLED or one of the ones listed below:

1) Ignore all except --- If selecting this, you must place the extension of the file types you want to receive. If you want to download an EXE, you place that in the list.

2) Ignore only --- If you select this one, you do the opposite. Make sure any file types you DON'T want ignored are NOT in the list. So you would remove EXE from the list.

Reminder: If you have the Checkbox on this page checked which says "Turn back on" and you select DISABLED, then you will have to reselect DISABLED every time it turns back on... or just uncheck that option.

Also, make sure you are set to "auto-get" or "show send dialog" in Alt-O > DCC. If that's set to ignore, you will not be able to download anything (which doesn't seem to be a problem for you).

Now, remember... as L|B said, it is unwise to auto-accept EXE files on a regular basis. So remember that when downloading.

I always recommend turning on "Isolate DCC Notices" from your DCC Manager (Invision menu > DCC Manager > Setup tab) on all networks so that when you download something, you will have a record of it you can easily check to make sure you weren't sent something you didn't ask for.

I cant even accpet .wav files the only one that I can accpet are .jpg files only. I odnt have anyone that sends me any files. I changed everything to receive it but it still wont let me.

Can you send...

Can you send JPG files to your computer from work? It could simply be that your work computer is not able to send to your home computer.

What error do you get on each computer? Both should give you an error and the errors will be different error messages.

Great point, L|B... I had forgotten about that since I rarely am on those networks anymore. That is most likely the problem. :)
