help with dcc gets/retrieves [edit-problem fixed]

Postby viperman999 » Sat Mar 13, 2004 9:24 pm

3 days ago i was able to get/download 2 or more files different channels/servers/nicks. but now, i can only get 1 file at a time.
i use mirc 6.14 with latest invision. i know it's not server or file problems
because i made sure/test that the files were downloadable from any server/channel. any help or suggestions to enable more than 1 transfer at a time would be appreciated? thanks.

Connection limit

Postby Riamus » Sat Mar 13, 2004 10:23 pm

Sounds like you may have a limit to your connections (routers and firewalls sometimes can have this option and I think Windows does-- I know Windows lets you limit http connections, but not sure about other kinds like dcc).

Or you're in queue... but I'm sure you would know if that was the case.
You can find me at #Invision on irc.irchighway.net or #OldGames on irc.undernet.org if you need me for anything.

no i'm not in que because while one file is transfering, i dcc another and the progress windows pops up and it stalls. the connection fails but i know that dcc file works since i tested the server/channel ahead to see if it's downloadable and it is. but second connection seems to time out.

like i said, i was able to to do 5 gets/transfers at time 2 days ago.
don't know what happened?

problem fixed.
did a little troubleshoot and found out that sygate firewall was the problem. it was won't allow multiple outgoing/incoming on the same ports.
example:
file #1 dcc send uses port 1026[incoming] 3782[outgoing] transfer successful

file #2 dcc send uses port 1026[incoming] 3782[outgoing] transfer failed because the firewall won't allow it.

to get around it, in mirc, go to [tools] [connect] [options] [advance] and place a check on "use random ports."

now you get/retieve 2,5,10 downloads [multiple transfers] at time.

just like to share that if it will help anyone else.
