i'm on a router, please help!

Postby tedeza » Wed Jun 04, 2003 4:30 pm

Hello!

I'm totally new with serving, but today i was tryin' it with a friend so i can start to do it. I kept getting the "acknowelding..."(sp?) so i searched for a solution.

I'm on DSL, so i have a router and i've read something about IP being set as DMZ host, but i have no idea of what that means or how to do it. I've done my research, but i have come to no conclusion.

I hope anybody will help me.

Thanks A LOT!

DMZ Host

What type of router do you have? I have a Linksys router and when I when you type the the routers IP http://192.168.1.1 And go to the Advanced Tab you should see a DMZ host tab. In there it will show DMZ host as 192.168.1.XXX You will need to change that to the IP your machine has obtained from the router. e.g. When you do an IPCONFIG if it shows you as 192.168.1.101 you will need to change the last numbers from say .100 to .101 apply the changes and you are set. If the router aint Linksys Post what type and model you are using and I will see what I can find out for you. Good Luck!!

Hi!

Thanks for answering so quickly!

I have doing research and my router is a 3com 812, i tried doing what you told me but i can't get the options you told me to, maybe on the main computer of my network, but the owner is not home and even when i'm allowed to, i don't like to start it up when she's not here.

So, is there a way to do thos from my computer?

Sorry for my stupidity!

Thanks!
