Establishing Permanent Op status in your own channel

Postby tronix » Mon Jun 09, 2003 4:19 pm

I recently started a test channel and had a friend join it. I gave him HalfOp status. He is away from his PC, and I had to briefly log off in order to restart my PC. When I tried to return to my channel, I not only have no Op status, but I have no idea how to restore the status. Can someone :!: PLEASE :!: help with this?? Do I need to add my own nick to the user manager? I believe I had the Gain Ops off beleiving that it would have me attempt to gain ops in every channel I visit.

I was confident that all my configured settings were correct...until now.
I don't believe that I got locked out of my OWN channel.
Oh, no.... here we go......again.

A)Is there Chanserv services, or something similiar, on the network that you're on.

-and-

B)Did you register your channel with the service?

If you can answer yes to both A and B then msg chanserv (usually /msg chanserv@services.somenetwork.net) and use help (ex. /msg chanserv@services.dalnet.net help) to find out what the command is to op yourself.

If you answered no to either A or B then either tell your friend to leave and then part and rejoin the channel or visit your networks help channel and see if a higher level op can help you.
