Auto Responder won't work

Postby Tri Nitro Toluene » Wed May 28, 2003 2:14 pm

Hey guys,
I have contemplated this for forever, and asked a million people and thought it was about time to post. I filled out all 3 required fields for the Word Watch 1, and it just won't auto respond, it is set to do it every 2 seconds in advanced, I don't see any check boxes to enable it or anything. Anyone?

Thanks!

WordWatch 1-3 tab

Words/Phrase #1: "tnt"
Response: "test"
Channels: "#elite-dod"

I have gotten people in that channel to type "tnt" but that doesn't trigger it.

Thanks!

To clarify operation:

For the response to be said, one of the two left side options must be checked. That is to say, either the /msg or the /notice (or both) must be checked. If none are, then there is no response (text wise that is). If you have /msg checked then it will say the response in the channel before taking any actions like kick/ban etc. If you just have /notice on then nothing goes out to the channel but a private notice is sent to the offender. If you are banning someone on offense then its a good idea to include a /notice so the person know what they did. That is if the response text enlightens them to the offense. So basically, no /msg option checked.. no text to chan. Also, and this is a biggy, make sure the setting in Main Settings > Adv Tab > upper right section where it says "Word Watcher Delay" or something like that is set to what you want. I would at least set it to say 3 seconds and no less.. 5 would be even a better minimum. That's to keep you from being flooded off by someone abusing this.

ya sorry about that.. the documention aspect of invision is still pretty weak. :) I hope to work on that after i get this next release out.. I should mention too the reason the release is taking so long is about a month ago I lost my RAID drive config on the system I was using for the new build and lost all my work.. other projects as well. So basically I had to start over from build 2520 again. :( But Im pretty close to release again now.. so it shouldn't be that much longer.

Oh that sucks, but you're doing a great job!

One more thing I might add, to add multiple channels for the responder to work, is it #chan,#chan2

or

#chan, #chan2

?

Thanks!
