setting up irc on a spare pc on my network

Hi guys im looking for help :oops: Im thinking on using my redundant pc as a server to run irc from it as a private site were i can only invite users to share or chat on my network pleaase can anybody here help and advise as to softyware i need to install and how i go about it . Many Thanks EnErY

You would need ircd software. Do a search on that and you'll find a lot of different kinds. Check out what features they have and then decide which one you want to use. From there, I'd recommend asking for additional help in that ircd's forum as they will know more about how to set it up and run it. Keep in mind that running a network with only a single computer isn't very stable. If you're limiting it to a very small number of people, then it won't matter, but if you ever want to have people on there 24/7 and not have problems with connections, then you really need multiple servers/computers so that when one has a problem, people can still connect.

Thx as it is now i have 3 spare pcs of wdhich i was runni9ng a network so i have the fac ilities here but little knowledge thank you for guiding me in the right direction :D :D :D :D
