Display System Info in Channel

Postby MiNdErAsR » Thu Jan 08, 2009 5:11 pm

I recently upgraded from 2 to 4gb of ram. Both BIOS and windows see the full 4gb, but displaying system info in channel only shows 2gb of ram. Is this info cached somehow? If so, any way to flush the cache? Running Invision 3.0 under mIRC v6.34 on Vista home premium.

TIA

Invision displays whatever Windows gives it. Although Windows "supports" 4gb of RAM, it's not really very good support and this is just one way to see that the support needs improved. Keep in mind that what Windows displays in its System window and what it sends out to any program asking for that information isn't always the same.

You can always override what Invision displays for system information in Personalization > Info from the Invision menu. Just put the 4GB RAM in there and that's what will show.

Oddly enough that's exactly what I did. And it still only shows 2gb ram.

Ah, oops. I forgot that the memory is handled differently from the rest because it shows the used memory. I'll look into what I can do with it and see if I can make it work better.

Ok, thanks. I still want to see what it shows for 4GB before making changes. :)

I'd like to see something show 4 gigs as well, but any scripts i've tried either show what windows shows or show 2048 only. My bios reports 4 gigs though.

Currently 0MB of 0MB in use which is 0%

Are you using the latest Invision (or at least version 3.0)? What I displayed uses a custom alias I added to the 3.x line.

Shouldn't show 0 then. Oh well, seems to be okay from Yusuke.
