Whenever I click a link in mIRC it opens Internet Explorer, Is it possible to have links in IRC open in Firefox instead of IE.

Actually it does open links in Firefox for me anyways. I have Firefox set as my default browser. If it doesn't do it after that I don't know what to tell ya other than IE has obviously assimilated your mIRC

To change the default browser in mIRC...

Edit mIRC.ini while it's closed

In the [Files] section, insert (or change if it is there already):

browser=drive:\path\filename.ext

example:

browser=C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firebird\MozillaFirebird.exe

Thanks for the help Riamus but unfortunatly it didn't work.

I added that line to mIRC.ini under the files section with mirc closed. It seems that mirc automatically removes the line what i just added each time i start it.

What mIRC version are you using? I know 6.03 had a bug which didn't allow you to change the default browser. I'm not sure if any other versions have the same bug. You may want to ask this on the mirc.com forum if you have a version other than 6.03.

I looked on the mIRC forum and apparently there is an issue with Firefox 1.0 settings. Try this suggestion from mirc.com:

In Firefox:
- Go to 'Tools'
- Go to 'Options'
- Click on the 'Advanced' button in the options dialog.
- Scroll down to 'Tabbed Browsing' and expand it.
- Under the title 'Open links from other applications in:' click the radio button saying 'a new window'.
- Click 'OK' and restart Firefox to make sure the setting is saved.
