Display MP3 in play suddenly no longer working?

Postby Scooley01 » Wed Jun 15, 2005 6:21 pm

I don't know why, but earlier today I noticed that this no longer works. It doesn't give me an error message or anything, but when I right click>>Display in channel>>Mp3 in play, it doesn't do anything. Winamp is open and playing a song, and this feature has always worked before...

Also, I used to be able to type "Part of nick:" and then a message, and it would put their whole nick between two big dots, and color their name and I could use that to respond. (Like if a user was named baconbits I could type "bacon: Hey." and it would show up as " ●baconbits● Hey "). Now when I type a message like that, even if I use their whole nick, it just cuts that out of the message. (using the same example from before, the message now just shows up as "Hey", it cuts out the nick).

I thought it might be a setting error, but I have no setting backup because I have never had problems before with Invision. It did this same thing a while back on my other computer, but I had to switch to this computer not too long after because the other one fried, and it worked on this computer so I forgot about it. Now that it has done it on two computers, I figured maybe a complete uninstall would work. I completely uninstalled invision, deleting every file that it left behind, and then I uninstalled mIRC completely and deleted anything left behind. Did a fresh install of both (mIRC 6.16 and I2.0 build 3515) and it still is not working.

I am confused about this, and I would really like a fix. I'm not sure how the problem can stay after a complete uninstall and reinstall, but perhaps someone here knows about this problem and can tell me how to fix it. Maybe I hit a button wrong or something. Any help will be much appreciatd, thanks in advance.

Settings

Well, it's strange if a new install doesn't work...

Anyhow, for the nick:

Go to the Main Settings > ADV tab. You'll see a nick tag section. This is where you put your nick completer information. If it is blank, it will delete the nick when used.

Here's the default format:

$c(2) $+ • $+ $c(1) $+ nick $+ $c(2) $+ •

If you want to format it yourself, here's an explanation of how it works:

nick -- This is where the person's nick is shown when done (without it, no nick is shown).

$c(1) -- This is the primary (main) color you have set up in Invision

$c(2) -- This is the secondary color you have set up in Invision

$+ -- This removes spaces around the items

-- This is Ctrl-O and it will make it so that text following the completed nick is your default color and not changed color based on the nick completer. You should always end with this.

• -- This is, of course, just a "fancy" thing to add

You can use Ctrl Codes instead of $c(1)/$c(2) if you want colors other than your normal Invision colors. (Ctrl-K). You can also do underlines and bold (Ctrl-U, Ctrl-B). And you can choose a different thing than a dot if you want... or multiple things.

Ok, now for your MP3s. I'm not completely sure on this and can't test it right now. Possible settings include:

Main Settings > General Tab:

mp3 info in active channel

mp3 playback use:

Announcement

Any of those 3 could have an affect, but I'm not positive. Also, you might have been using AMIP to display ads in mIRC (since you say you are playing from WinAMP rather than mIRC). If so, you have to set up AMIP correctly and choose to use AMIP from Invision. You also have to set the WinAMP/AMIP folder in Main Settings > ADV Tab.

Playlist

Postby Riamus » Mon Jun 20, 2005 4:40 am

Look in the Developer's forum -- -- and you'll find one I made for Invision.

As far as random sounds, it sounds like you told it to play a random mp3. Random play directory would let you play a random mp3 from a specific folder.

Still, the playlist makes it much easier and will import your WinAmp playlist(s) if you made any. If you have problems with it, let me know. Also, please let me know what you think of it or if you have suggestions for improving it. Please put the questions/comments in the forum where you find the playlist.
