Channel flood on connect

I don't know if this is a bug or a wrong setting (I've been using this just 2 days now) but when I join a server it floods any channels I'm in with advertisements until I shut it off (or get kicked). This is with it being set to run silently, and even if that wasn't working it's only set to advertise once every 99999 minutes. Any ideas on how to fix?
