Virus Detection Need Help

Postby bizzymom2 » Mon Dec 22, 2003 4:40 pm

Just installed mirc and invision a few minutes ago. got a virus detection from mcafee details:
Mirc/Invision/IRC/Flood.ak.plugin
GLH007F.Tmp
I tried to clean the file but it said it couldnt, so i deleted it.
Where can I get a clean copy of this file or do i even really need it?

just download the 3135 distro from the main page (http://invision.lebyte.com/) files section full install. The download button points to: http://www.frontiernet.net/~arlend/i2b3515.exe

And mcafee catches this trojan in the install. I even doublechecked a scan of the mirc and system directorys before I installed and it is comin out of the distro.

I'm getting the same thing:

..\Program Files\mIRC\Invision\~GLH007f.TMP infected with IRC/Flood.ak.plugin

McAfee Virscan
Version: 9.1
Build: 9.1.06
Engine Version: 4.4.00
DAT Version: 4.0.4489
DAT File Created: 5/11/2005

mIRC v6.16 was downloaded from a mirror listed at
Invision 2 build 3515 was downloaded from
System scanned clean before install.
mIRC and Invision installers scanned clean before install.
System scanned clean after mIRC install.
Invision installer MD5 checked out OK.

Granted, I would love to not get such a message when installing a program I like to use, but my main concerns are:
Why does a temp file during Invision's install trigger as a trojan?
Does the deletion of the file during the install affect Invision in any way?
--> This is mainly because my scanner is set to delete upon detection and I'd rather not change this (even temporarily...I prefer maintaining as much security as I can get).

Turn off worm/script detections

Postby Riamus » Wed May 18, 2005 4:46 am

Just turn off worm/script detections. I don't write definitions files and cannot tell you why they sometimes pick Invision up. However, there is no virus in the script. And I wouldn't delete any files during setup.
You can find me at #Invision on irc.irchighway.net or #OldGames on irc.undernet.org if you need me for anything.
