All of a sudden, whenever I try to download a file, I make a connection to the remote server, the file begins downloading, then the connection gets lost, and I lose my entire Internet connection and have to re-set my modem. I am using Windows XP Pro, without it's firewall, but have Zone Alarm running with mIRC allowed to act as a server. I've tried shutting off Zone Alarm, but the same thing still happens.

you have some ports setup wrong try reseting your modem then if problem persists let us know

I have tried resetting modem, as that is the only way i can re-gain my internet connection. I also have tried re-installing the script, because i thought it might have become corrupted, but it still happens.

call your isp and tell them your having problems with your family trying to send you pictures and see what they say.......

I don't suppose you use Edonkey or Overnet? Those sometimes cause the complete loss of sockets (internet included) when used in combination with mIRC.
