Invision just uses mIRC to play sounds. If the WAV files that Invision includes all play fine, then it's possible there some problem with either the MP3 files (if that's what you're trying to play) or else the codec(s) you have installed. If it works in WMP, it should work in mIRC, though... so I'm not really sure. Test the same files from a clean copy of mIRC (without Invision) and see if you have the same problems. To play a song, use:
/splay "filename.mp3"
/splay "path\filename.mp3"
The quotes are only really required if there are spaces in the path or filename, but they won't hurt anything to include them even on songs/paths without spaces.
If it doesn't work in plain mIRC, then I'd recommend asking on the mirc.com forums and see if anyone who knows more about how mIRC plays sounds can help you.
You can find me at #Invision on irc.irchighway.net or #OldGames on irc.undernet.org if you need me for anything.
