Invision 3 on Vista Not saving settings

Postby JhRave » Fri Mar 21, 2008 11:57 am

I installed invision 3 last night on my vista machine and I can't save any changes I make anywhere, in the ftp ad manager, in main settings. I have given myself full control and permissions to that folder still can't figure out why it won't let me save any of the settings

What folder did you install it to? And is mIRC.ini in the same folder as mIRC.exe?
You can find me at #Invision on irc.irchighway.net or #OldGames on irc.undernet.org if you need me for anything.

It is installed in C:\Invision and the mirc.ini and mirc.exe are in the same folder, all the mirc settings saved so my perform and all that works from the setup in the mirc portion, but under the invision tab and all the script settings won't save

How long do you give it to save before closing mIRC? It can take a minute or two before all settings are fully saved after pressing the OK button. Beyond that, try installing to the desktop just to see if it saves there. If it does, then you have a permission incorrect in your current folder. If not, then there's another problem.

ok that fixed it but I don't want it installed on my desktop so where else do you suggest I install it? Maybe one of my other 5 drives??? Maybe my data drive, do you have instructions on what settings to add exactly because I am have full control to the folder in the root of the c drive and to the invision folder, have any other ideas? I am running the new SP1 that I have run into some flaky things with

The best I can offer is the Vista sticky thread. Beyond that, it should work in any folder that is not in the Program Files directory. If not, I really don't know. It works fine here, but I don't have SP1 yet. You can check the #Invision forum and speak with Safemode. I believe he is using SP1 and Invision and it isn't on his desktop.

Alright, I just did a fresh install of the Vista SP1 Ultimate when I installed the invision and I knew it we probably one of two permissions issues, but I gave my selft full control and I ran it as administrator and neither way would it save the settings, after I installed it on my desktop I also noticed there are default boxes checked, those weren't showing up when installed on root c: either.

I am running a dual boot of XP and Vista, with a seperate data HDD and a NDAS network HDD so I might just see if I can install invision in the Data HDD that would give me the option of running it from both OS's without any headache or issues if I format reinstall anything
