I Have No IDEA How To Open My Router Ports, Need Help Please

Postby cptn_black » Mon Aug 01, 2005 5:35 pm

i understand what port fowarding/triggering is... i just have no idea how to do it.

i have a microsoft base station mn-700 wireless router, an i know how to log into it.
when i log into my router's managment softare i have two options: application-triggered port forwarding , or persistent port forwarding. im not sure where or how to instert the ports i need open.

i have the ports i need to open, provided from the channel i wish to serve on.
"ports to open > home port is 6060 > Port: 1060 (fserve Chat) > send ports are 1024 - 5000 and need to all be open to send > Port 6660 - 6670 (mirc ports)"

You need to use the application-triggered port forwarding screen.

First, note that you would only need to use ports 59 and whatever port(s) you choose to serv from. You can limit mIRC's port range from serving to something smaller than 1024-5000. I'd recommend no more than 10 ports since it isn't at all necessary. To do that, go to mIRC's options (Alt-O) > Connect > Options > Advanced.

Second, just insert your port 59 and whatever range you choose into the boxes. I don't use a router, so I've never set this up. I'd check the help that you can click from within that page to see how it says to do it. Or, see what portforwarding.com says. Otherwise, just try different combinations. Or, someone else here might be able to give you a clearer idea.
You can find me at #Invision on irc.irchighway.net or #OldGames on irc.undernet.org if you need me for anything.
