log files at 0kb

Postby Kanako » Fri Mar 05, 2004 9:05 am

Hi,
when I installed Invision it told me something with helping to setup Invision and when it was asking if I'd like to import my logs I said "Yes", but it came up with an error message.
Now, all my log files are empty at 0kb but the files are still there.
Is there a way to retrieve my old logs?

New directory?

Did you install to a directory different that the one the previous version was located in?

If so, then just copy the log files from the old directory to the new one. They are in the Logs folder.

It is always best to install to a new folder so if something goes wrong, you still have the old copy. Then you can delete the old copy once everything is working.

If you don't have the original logs, then you won't be able to retrieve them.
You can find me at #Invision on irc.irchighway.net or #OldGames on irc.undernet.org if you need me for anything.

I see, then most likely it will be like this. :/
Hm...
Still, after installing Invision I had a file without extension in the logs folder called "logs". What is that file for?

How big is it?

If it is 0 bytes, it's probably a place holder for the folder.

It's 30 bytes, so I doubt it's a back up of all my logs, still I'm hoping it is. ^^;;
