Invision Bot Usage...

Postby lektr0nikz » Thu Dec 18, 2003 8:28 pm

Hi, i want to be able to make an bot on a computer that auto ops people into my channel. Like a chanserv. But heres the problem...

I knwo how to use the userlists and add people manually, but is it possible to set up the bot at like a friends house / or different computer on network and i can remotely add people to the bots userlist (or get the bot to auto +V and auto op people but by doing it from a remote location?) pretty much i want a working chanserv (like gamesnet has) and i can remotely add people to it so it ops them and stuff. is there a command , just like -op blah or something?

oh sorry for the double post, but how could i also make it join channels remotely! thanks alot for the help, BTW INVISION = BEST IRC EVER!!!!

U should look into getting an eggDrop bot from a shell provider takes some time to learn it but it will do what u are thinking about doing on the server your on type /raw list and look for a sheel provider channel and ask for info

i did that, but im kind of a noob at this, and i really dont want to have to get a shell and stuff, is there any way i can just make my mirc invision be a bot? I mean , im sure theres a way to do it w/o getting eggdrops to do it. like can i just make it so i can type : -add blah to userlist or something, ot jsut do -op blah, so when he joins he gets auto opped?

Ok

First, you insert the code into the bot by Alt-R and then File > New which will create a black file. Just paste into that blank file.

The //echo -a $address(nick,8) will show you the host info that you need to enter if you are manually entering that information when messaging the bot. If you just use the syntax that includes $address(nick,8), you don't have to use the //echo part.

Also, you /msg command is incorrect.

it's:

//msg botnick autoop #yourchan $address(nick,8)

so, an example:

//msg elkbot autoop #hicks $address(mrwoffle,8)

Remember that the person must be online when doing this unless you manually enter the host in this manner:

//msg elkbot autoop #hicks mrwoffle!*ident@*.hishost.com

To see what I mean by that format, you can type //echo -a $address(mrwoffle,8) if he's online and you'll see what you would type if you had the information and the person was offline.

Finally.. you didn't enter the info about YOU correctly either:

100:nick!mrbucket@c-67-***-**-***.client.comcast.net

Unless your nick is "nick", this is not correct.

100:nick!*ident@*.host.com

nick = your nick
ident = your ident info (type /whois yournick to see your ident.. it's usually your identd or your e-mail nick that you have in mirc options)
*.host.com = your dns/ip info

Because you have all those numbers that you listed, I'm certain your DNS/host info changes every time you reconnect. So, I recommend using the host.com part in this format:

100:nick!*ident@*.client.comcast.net

And just replace nick and ident in that. Note that you need BOTH *'s that are listed as well as the ! and @ symbols.

I think that covers everything.

hmm im getting there, but right after i click aliases then file > new and paste that code in, alot of my stuff is messed, like if i right click someone, and go to Op User...
it says:

[12:03am] ERROR > 421: Unknown command: USERS.INI
[12:04am] ERROR > 421: Unknown command: #HACKS

(i tried to op a clone in hacks by right clicking him, none of the stuff works, why?)

Um...

I never said to put it in Aliases. It belongs in Remotes. Alt-R, File > New.

yea, under what tab should i be on when i go to file > new, becasue if i do it under aliases it makes aliases2 (which is blank) so i paste it in there, but then it jacks up my whole irc and nothing works right... (i just reinstalled, so ill waitt o hear from you!)

Remotes

Postby Riamus » Thu Dec 18, 2003 10:17 pm

As I said... the Remotes Tab. If you're on that tab and do File > New, it will make a new file in the Remotes Tab and not the Alias Tab.
