question about adding stuff in the script

I noticed that I can add certain things in the script for the social outburst.
What I'm trying to do is to be able to have a box popup to enter the text I want.

" steve hands joan a _______ "

just from looking at some of the others I have seen so far,

..hands $1 a ? :{ me hands $$1 }
can anybody help me finish this. I'm kinda stuck.
