Trying to set up FSERVE with dsl on win xp pro

Postby zelos » Sat Feb 22, 2003 11:42 am

I'm running on win xp pro and just got DSL so im not very use to the settings etc. you can do with dsl but im not new to Invision or anything. what is happening is im trying to set up an fserev but people can't connect because im assuming it's going by my lan address when it should be going by my broadband or WAN address but the exact phrase it's saying is "could not resolve local host" is there a way to fix this through win xp or invision and if so how?

If you have a router between your DSL modem and your computer then follow my guide http://invision.virtuallysurreal.net and click the router/firewall button.

If not, then you most likely have a modem with a built-in router, call your ISP and find out how to open up ports on the modem/router, tell them it's for an internet game or something.
Hope This Helps ;)

I have no Router there is no internal router to the modem all ports are unblocked what is happening is the ethernet IP address (it's and IP address which the NIC has) is being determined as the default IP meaning people are trying to connect to an IP which realisticly doesn't exist i cannot disable the ethernet card because if i do then i will have no internet if anyone has any idea on how to get around this so you can manually write down and choose your ip in invision or something on how to make the dsl IP the default one please tell me
