fserve continously fails

Postby hypeothedikal » Sat Mar 13, 2004 10:29 am

I have an Fserve setup and like 3 outta every 5 sends will fail. I even tried downloadin with a clone and the sends keep failing. I get the failed to connect message. Anyone else have problems like this? I don't think I got a firewall or router or anything, I didn't install nothin myself atleast. Just got aol broadband on XP Pro. Any help is greatly appreciated. thanks

Well

If only some sends fail with that message, then most likely the people getting from you have a certain filetype being blocked in mIRC.

For example, RAR is blocked by default. Someone might download a TXT file just fine and then can't download a RAR file. Have people check their DCC Options. They can either disable their ignore setting (dangerous if you don't know how to watch for viruses and trojans) or they can set it to one of the other settings and make sure that the filetype they are trying to download is not going to be ignored.

well, i don't think thats whats wrong, cause I had somone download a few Mp3s from me, and like the 1st went through fine, next 2 failed, and then the 4th one went through ok. Not that it fails two then sends one all the time though. Somtimes it'll fail 5-7 times in a row, and even when I try to resend it fails, but it seems like if I wait a minute in between when it fails and pressin resend, it works somtimes, maybe the timing has something to do with it?

What message do you receive in your status window when it fails?

Ports

Postby Riamus » Sun Mar 14, 2004 7:13 pm

Try a different range of ports to send from. It's possible you do have a router or firewall that is blocking certain ports, or that your ISP is blocking certain ports. Try to send many times and note the ports that DO work. Try using a port range using those ports (or just select one of those ports and have a range of only one port).
