Auto Disconnecting from most networks....

Postby Theonomous » Sat Jan 03, 2004 11:55 am

hi there

When I try and join some networks...they sometimes kick me off automatically....for example, i try to connect to irc.irchighway.net, and it autokills me before i can actually join any channel, giving the reason that I am infected with the FizzerBot (virus or trojan...i don't know). The only thing is... i'm running AVG with the latest definitions and also have done scans with Norton Antivirus 2003 (also with latest definitions). It does not pick this up. I'm running mIRC 6.12 with the latest Invision Build.

Interestingly, i did a clean install of mIRC and the problem went away, which leads me to believe it is a setting within Invision itself.

Can anyone shed any light on this??

I would try going to the ADV tab in Main Settings for invision and unchecking the box along the left edge that is for updating the IAL list on Connect/Join. See if that cures your problem.

cryoa,

I've tried that, but it didn't seem to do anything... It still says that i'm infected with the FizzerBot virus. Worse still.... it seems to have migrated to the plain install of mIRC that i installed. I can't think of anything that i've installed recently that would have caused this. I've run my virus checker again, and it came up empty handed. Just in case, i downloaded and ran a program that searches for the w32.hllw.fizzer virus (its the only thing that i could find...a search on google for FizzerBot comes up empty). My system is clean. Does anyone have any ideas?? I've tried uninstalling all instances of mIRC and Invision, but still this does not seem to cure the problem.

Just in case it helps, here are my system specs:

Dell Dimension 8200 - Bios Version P13 - Intel P4 2Ghz Chip
512Mb RDRAM (PC800 Chips)
2 x 120Gb 7200rpm drives (Western Digital)
Creative Labs Audigy 2 Platinum EX
GeForce 3 Ti 500 64Mb
WinTV-NovaPCI
Windows XP Pro

Other Software:

Logitech MX Cordless Desktop Pro (Installed latest versions of ITouch software and Mouseware from Logitech.com)
Office XP Pro
Norton Antivirus 2003
AVG 7.0 (alternative Virus checker)

I hope this helps in any way....i'm completely at a loss.

Thanks for any help!!

Theonomous

PS. When i say i've uninstalled.. i've also cleaned the registry, and systematically gone through every system startup procedure....as far as I can tell, there are no foreign processes being run.

I'm using Norton Antivirus - Latest Definitions, as well as running AVG version 7. They don't pick up that my system is infected..... (which leads me to believe that it isn't

Hope this helps,

Try running these scanns and if you turn up empty then your system is clean and clear,

http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

I dont belive it is an Invision setting or an Mirc settings that could be causing this trouble. It may be possible that you have been klined or akilled or glined (depending on the server your on ) in the past for virius like activity or you just may have been caught in the battle so to speak and killed by accident, Try Emailing thier support for viruses and see what you can get from that make sure to paste the error and kill message that u recieve from the server its self.

Other then that try to see if your ISP will renew your Ip address maybe your whole host is banned like efnet does on certain servers ........
