Problem connecting to multiple servers...

Until recently, I never had a problem accessing more than one server simultaneously. Now, when I use an internet shortcut to get to an IRC server, instead of receiving the pop-up promtin me to choose between opening a new server window, join channel in server or change servers, it automatically disconnects from the first server I was on in order to connect me to the second.
I don't recall having changed my config options for this to be happening. It would be much appreciated if anyone can help shed some light on this for me.
