Anonymity?

Postby Smitch » Mon Jun 30, 2003 11:33 pm

How do i become anonymous on irc?
I know about proxies, but i carnt find a good IRC proxy, and im not sure if they actually hide your identity that well. I want to be able to block "whois" against me and any other commands that reveal information about myself.

Thanks

If you're on a network with user mode +x, just turn that on by writing /mode your-nick +x
That way no one can get you internet address. But only if you don't use DCC in any way.
If you get or send files or dcc chat with somebody, you give away your address.
The IRCops on the network can still see you address though.

Another way would be to use a bouncer at a shell. That way the shells ip will show. But the same as above apply for DCC activities.
You can find shells here http://www.shellsearch.com/
