Major MAJOR Lag

When i connect to irc.rizon.net or any specific Rizon server i begin to lag BAD.... as soon as i enter any channel, even a small one with very little goin on my lag increases to around 20sec then i get an (excess flood) disconnect. i have used barebones mIRC and another script which i wont spam here and found significantly lower lag... although it still does lag a bit. anything i can deactivate in order to help with this? been thru most of the settings with no improvement.
