Some of that is related to mIRC.
1) In mIRC's options, you can change where queries (PMs) display.
2) You can verify that the nick in the Maintain Nick option in Invision's Main Settings isn't enabled or is correct, but most likely the issue is related to mIRC. You *might* be able to just change your nick again using /anick for your alternate nick and /mnick for your main nick and then use /nick to your main nick and that might fix it as it will rewrite the settings in mIRC. A reinstall of mIRC and Invision will probably solve that (make sure you delete your mIRC.ini file and Invision's settings files before reinstalling to guarantee a clean reinstall). Invision itself only changes your nick from either Maintain Nick or from your Away settings (you can have an "away" nick). If it's not related to those two settings, it's an issue in mIRC itself.
3) It isn't a random nick. It will be the first nick starting with D. Invision "highlights" nicks whenever you type a nick followed by a colon. It will allow you to do this by typing a partial nick as well, which is very useful for long nicks or nicks with unusual characters. Your issue is that D: will treat the D as a partial nick and "highlight" a nick starting with D. This has been discussed before and at this time, it isn't being changed. If we find a better way to handle that, we may change it at that point, but this helps many more than it hurts. Relatively few people use that backwards smiley. If you use the standard smileys, you won't have any problems. Alternatively, just use Ctrl-Enter when you type that at the beginning of a line.
4) Timestamps are set up in Invision's Main Settings (ADV tab). They are for all events including all text messages, joins, parts, and quits. There is not an option to do only specific events.
