AMIP plugin Foobar2000

Postby Inf0 » Wed May 11, 2011 11:21 pm

As you probably read in the title I am seeking some help with getting foobar2000 to list currently playing and change songs with the AMIP plugin.

I have installed the amip_foobar_09.zip from the link below and installed it into the correct directory. Also my foobar installation has no other special plugins loaded other that the defaults.

http://amip.tools-for.net/wiki/amip/download

After installing the plugin and running the settings panel I was then prompted to install the Java setting's front end ( amip_config.zip 0.34 ) from here: http://amip.tools-for.net/wiki/amip/dow ... nfigurator which installed and ran successfully so I have the entire integration settings panel up and running fine.

After getting that installed and setup. I restarted both foobar v1.0.3 and Mirc v7.19 with the newest invision v3.2 script.

After restarting both programs I click Invision>Main Settings and changed the directory to foobar2000's main and tried the components directory and it still can not identify the AMIP plugin when selection the amip option from the General tab under main settings.

I do see a few notes in the settings panel detailing the importance of correctly identifying the directories and it highlighting Winamp, but I was assuming using the amip plugin would still work.

From what I see on my end I think the only options I have are to mess with the script and manually edit the plugin directory or have a work around using the original amip integration that it offers with mirc, which I don't know if that could mess anything up with my amazing invision script.

I have multiple setting backups and can easily reinstall if I mess something up so I am more than willing to try any suggestions that maybe offered.

Thank you for taking the time to read my post and if any further information is needed I will gladly supply.

I haven't use Winamp in many years, so don't have any recent experience with it and have never used plugins with it. There were some questions awhile back dealing with newer versions of the AMIP plugin not working. It's been a long time and I don't remember the details exactly. I believe part of it was that the plugin is being stored in a different location in newer versions of Winamp and that was causing problems. But you could work around that by just putting the plugin in the location it used to be and it would work. The other part I think I remember is that there may be newer versions of the plugin that don't work at all with mIRC/Invision... at least, not without trying to find out what's changed in the plugin and finding a workaround.

You might try an older version plugin and/or putting it in the original location (I think the default location in Invision is the original location). It may also be an issue with the foobar thing. Try just using the AMIP plugin and see if it works. If so, then it's an issue with foobar. If not, then it's the plugin causing the problems. Note that I'm not saying it's the fault of the plugin or foobar, just that the problem lies with compatibility with one of those... either a mIRC issue or an Invision issue.

I think someone in the #Invision channel in my signature uses Winamp. You could join the channel and ask. Just be willing to idle as the person may not be around at the time, but will probably be on later.

After messing around with it a fair bit, I got it to work.

After installing all of the for mentioned software with foobar2000.

I then installed the AMIP plugin for winamp. Went into invision's settings and changed the directory for the plugin to winamp's plugins directory. (The amip main config panel works with both the foobar2000 & winamp at the same time, with no problems on my end.)

I think I pretty much left most of the AMIP settings alone btw. After resetting all the pieces of software.

When I right-click in an active channel and choose the option to display current mp3 it works :D :D :D

Thank you very much for your input and such a quick response Riamus

Hope this may help any with the same issue
