There could be a variety of reasons and it's not really possible to guess based on what you've said. It could be that Invision crashed or didn't close properly and something got messed up. It's possible your hard drive is low on space and caused something to not be written properly. It's just hard to tell without more details of what happened before it stopped working normally. The best option you have now would be to try installing the update file even if you have the latest version. That won't overwrite your settings and may make Invision work properly. You may also need or want to reload all scripts. To do that, press Alt-R then go to File>Load. If you're on the Remotes tab, you'll want to load all scripts located in \System\Remotes\ . You'll also want to click the Aliases tab and do the same thing to load all files in \System\Aliases\ .
If none of that works, you may need to just reinstall a clean copy of Invision. What you have had happen isn't normal or common, so the chances of it happening again are minimal.
